 Scarp: Hardware store thrives in Wal-Mart era (East Valley Tribune)
Fifty-two years ago a hardware store opened in Scottsdale. It's still there at Scottsdale and Thomas roads, a few yards from its original location. This is noteworthy in a town known for restaurants and bars that have closed for good so fast, the "grand opening" banners were still hanging out front.
