Overwintering flowering bulbs (Lake County News-Sun)
When summer draws to a close and it's time to say goodbye to summer flowering "bulbs" such as cannas, gladiolus, dahlia and tuberose begonia, why not consider giving them a reprieve and store the underground parts (tubers and corms, rhizomes) over the winter so you can include them back into the garden next year, said Greg Stack, University of Illinois Extension horticulture educator.
