When we toured Alice Uphouse’s gorgeous lily gardens at 1925 Halsted Road, it was a sad day and also a day of wonderful reflection about her mother, Pauline, who had passed away that morning. The gardens were planted four years ago when Alice and her husband, Ralph, moved into the larger house to accommodate her elderly mother.
